Extension and Alterations to Furness Heating Company within a Listed Building

The project was grant aided and backed by Barrow Borough Council to extend the retail floor space of an established heating and plumbing outlet within a Listed Building adjacent to a conservation area. The new build extends out into an existing basement area underneath the pavement within the curtilage of the building.

New Build Offices, Waterside House, Barrow-in-Furness

New build business incubator office units with shared facilities of staff accommodation, kitchen, conference, wc’s, reception, lift and parking. The high specification development achieved provisional BREEAM Excellent incorporating Brise Soleil to all windows, a system of passive ventilation, curtain walling with solar glazing and above Building Regulation insulation values.

Extension and refurbishment; Clarence House, Dalton-in-Furness

The brief was to create a very high quality extension to the dining area allowing larger parties and wedding to be in one open space.  The special atmosphere in the room has been achieved with the use of full height corner glazing, a glazed roof lantern and high quality finishes and fit out.  An office and a wc for the disabled were added together with an extensive refurbishment and extension of the general wc’s.

Conversion of Drill Hall into thriving Community Centre, Dalton-in-Furness

The project has evolved over several phases and years, initially targeting the essential repairs and upgrades to the roof and WCs, followed by carefully sequenced provision of additional accommodation for new entrance and reception, Youth Club, kitchen, meeting room and police office whilst vastly improving the playgroup facilities.

A special mention should be given to Barry Doughty who continues to work tirelessly and effectively to make it all happen.

Conversion of Grade II Listed Building into office accommodation, Barrow-in-Furness

Conversion of dilapidated three storey Grade II Listed Building into retail and office accommodation including complete remodelling of internal layout.  Replacement of all internal floors and partitions, refurbishment of windows and external envelope, full fit-out including new lift.

Extensions and refurbishment; Lighthouse Cottage, Walney

The project was undertaken whilst working closely with the Planning Department and English Heritage on this Grade II * Listed Building together with the consideration of the SSI and particular regard to the integrity of the surrounding sand dunes. The project involved part demolition of dilapidated lean-to structures and the sympathetic design of replacement buildings and a new interior layout for a contemporary style of living including open plan living accommodation on the first floor to take advantage of the exceptional views.
